Q: How do I choose the size?

Two choices. The cushion goes by the width of your nose; if you’re between sizes, call us. The frame goes by the size of your head: with a soft tape, measure from under your nose, over the top of your head and back. Standard fits 24 3/8–25 11/16 in (619–653 mm); Large fits 25 11/16–27 3/8 in (654–695 mm). We carry the SW, M and L cushions with the Standard frame, and the M cushion with the Large frame. Not sure? Why the AirTouch F30i

ComfiSoft™ fabric cushion

Fabric fused onto silicone, with AdaptiSeal™ sealing technology built in. The manufacturer describes the fabric as soft, breathable and moisture-wicking. It isn’t the memory foam of the AirTouch F20 — this cushion is hand-washed every day, without a brush.

Tube on top, 360° quick-release elbow

The hose connects at the top of your head through an elbow that swivels a full 360° and releases with its side buttons. Turn over and the hose follows; get up at night and you unclip the hose, not the mask.

QuietAir™ vent

Exhaled air leaves through a diffuse vent in the cushion instead of a single jet. Measured: 20 dBA sound power level, and 13 dBA sound pressure level at 1 m.

Will it fit my machine?

CPAP, APAP and bilevel — with one exception worth knowing.

The AirTouch F30i Clear is made for CPAP, APAP and bilevel therapy, and its manufacturer has validated it with the AirSense 10 and AirSense 11 and the AirCurve 10 and AirCurve 11 machines we carry. The exception is the AirMini, which is not compatible with this mask. If your machine is from another brand, call us before you order — we’ll check it with you.

Before you order — magnets. The frame and the lower headgear clips contain magnets. Don’t use this mask if you, or anyone in close physical contact with you while you use it, has a pacemaker, implantable defibrillator or another magnet-sensitive implant. Full warning in the FAQ below.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a prescription for this mask?

No. Masks, cushions, headgear, tubing and filters ship without a prescription. Only the CPAP or BiPAP machine itself requires one.

AirTouch F30i or AirFit F30i — which one?

Same design — tube at the top of your head, cushion under your nose, same headgear. What changes is what seals against your face: the AirTouch cushion is ComfiSoft™ fabric fused onto silicone; the AirFit’s is silicone. Choose the AirTouch if a silicone seal against your skin has bothered you — knowing the fabric asks for gentler care: hand wash only, no brush, and it can pill or fray with use, which the manufacturer says doesn’t affect performance. Choose the AirFit F30i if you need a Small frame or want the Starter Pack with every cushion size. The cushions fit either frame, but the sizes don’t line up one-to-one.

It has magnets — who shouldn’t use it?

The magnets are in the frame and in the lower headgear clips, with a field strength of up to 400 mT, and they can come apart while you sleep. The manufacturer contraindicates this mask if you, or anyone in close physical contact with you while you use it, has an active implant that interacts with magnets (pacemaker, implantable defibrillator, neurostimulator, CSF shunt, insulin or infusion pump) or a metallic implant containing ferromagnetic material (such as aneurysm clips, embolic coils, stents, valves, electrodes, hearing or ocular implants, metal splinters in the eye). Other metallic implants can also be affected — for example contact lenses with metal, dental implants, metal cranial plates, screws, burr hole covers and bone substitute devices. Keep the magnets at least 6 in (150 mm) from any implant or medical device that could be affected, and never take the mask into an MRI room. The manufacturer also advises checking with your doctor and your implant’s manufacturer. If any of this applies, call us before you order and we’ll point you to a mask without magnets.

How do I know I need a full face mask?

The usual signs are waking with a dry mouth, air escaping through your lips at night, or chronic nasal congestion. If you breathe through your mouth while you sleep, a nasal mask leaks the pressure straight out — a full face mask doesn’t. Your sleep provider decides the mask type; we can help you compare.

Will it work with my CPAP?

It’s made for CPAP, APAP and bilevel machines, and it’s validated with the AirSense 10 and 11 and with the AirCurve 10 and 11 machines we carry. It is not compatible with the AirMini. If your machine is another brand, call us before you order and we’ll confirm it.

It leaks. What do I do first?

Loosen the headgear, don’t tighten it — over-tightening deforms the cushion and makes leaks worse. Reseat it with the machine running, and if it still leaks, try the next size. Still stuck? Call us.
