Two form factors: the SoftPac, a 6-lb soft case with a shoulder strap that you carry to the person (M9, 250 L, about 40 minutes at 6 LPM), and the OxygenPac, a rigid wall-mounted cabinet with a clear cover and a bigger M20 566-L cylinder (about 90 minutes at 6 LPM). The StartSystem puts emergency oxygen and a dedicated spot for your AED in one case. Empty isn't a shortcut. It's the better way to buy it.
Medical oxygen expires, and a pressurized cylinder is hazmat. A unit that ships full started its clock in someone else's warehouse and can't legally reach much of the country. Empty, it arrives anywhere as a normal package and you start with the whole shelf life. When yours lands:

Do I need a prescription to buy emergency oxygen?
The fixed-flow models (6 LPM, and 6 or 12 LPM) are sold without a prescription under the FDA's non-prescription emergency-oxygen exemption: they deliver a fixed high flow for the required minimum duration, for emergency use by non-clinical staff. The variable regulator models, which go up to 25 LPM, are intended for trained responders. If you're not sure which one fits your facility, call us.
Why do they ship empty?
Two reasons, both in your favor. First, medical oxygen expires — a unit that ships full started its clock in a warehouse. Empty, you fill it fresh and start with the full shelf life. Second, a pressurized cylinder is hazmat and can't ship to much of the country; empty, it travels as a normal package to any state.
Where do I fill it?
At any nearby medical oxygen supplier — the same place that fills medical or welding cylinders. It's a routine job. If you don't know who's near you, call us and we'll help you find them.
How long does it last once filled?
It depends on the cylinder and the flow. The SoftPac uses an M9 250-liter cylinder: about 40 minutes at 6 LPM. The OxygenPac uses an M20 566-liter cylinder: about 90 minutes at 6 LPM. At higher flows it runs down proportionally faster.
What's the difference between the SoftPac and the OxygenPac?
The SoftPac goes to the person: soft case, 6 lb, shoulder strap. The OxygenPac stays: rigid cabinet with a clear cover, mounted on the wall, with a bigger cylinder and longer supply. Plenty of venues keep both.
Does the StartSystem include the AED?
No. The case has a dedicated compartment sized for an AED so you can add your own. What's included is the oxygen side: regulator, CPR mask and an empty M14 113-liter cylinder.
Is my facility required to have emergency oxygen?
That depends on your state, your industry, and sometimes on your insurer or accreditation. Plenty of gyms, schools, dental offices, theaters and malls keep it as part of their emergency response plan, alongside the AED. Check the requirements that apply to your operation — we can help with the equipment, not with legal advice.
Does staff need training?
The fixed-flow models are designed precisely so they don't: you open it and it delivers, with nothing to dial in under pressure. Even so, staff should know where the unit lives and how it opens before the day it matters. The variable-regulator models do call for trained responders.
Do you sell replacement cylinders and parts?
Yes. We stock replacement cylinders, regulators and accessories, and we're still on the other end of the phone after the sale. Call us with the model you have.

Is this the right thing for a patient who uses oxygen at home?
No — these are different things. These units are for a one-off emergency in a public or workplace setting. For daily therapy at home, see our home or portable concentrators, which do require a prescription.
