How long does it run?

Inogen One G5: up to 6.5 hours on flow setting 1, per Inogen’s G5 spec sheet and the current revision of the G5 manual.
Inogen Rove 6: up to 6 hours 15 minutes on flow setting 1 (±10%), per Inogen’s Rove 6 manual.

Those are Inogen’s figures for a new battery, and runtime is shorter at higher settings. A used battery may deliver less than a new one. Ask us and we can set expectations for your flow setting.

Runtime is typically a bit lower than a brand-new pack — the trade-off for a much lower price. Every unit is backed by a warranty by American Oxygen (ask us for the current term). For context: Inogen designs these batteries for 500 full charge/discharge cycles, and a pre-owned pack has already used part of that life.

Will it fit my Rove 6?

Yes. Inogen’s Rove 6 manual lists the BA-500 as a standard, 8-cell battery for the Rove 6, together with the BA-508. It also fits the Inogen One G5, where Inogen calls it the single battery.

Will it fit my Inogen One G4 or Rove 4?

No. Inogen’s G4 and Rove 4 manuals list only the BA-400, BA-404 and BA-408 batteries. For those units, see the G4 / Rove 4 single battery.

How long does a used battery last?

Somewhat less than a brand-new pack, since used cells lose a little capacity over their life. For reference, with a new battery Inogen lists up to 6.5 hours on setting 1 in the G5 and up to 6 hours 15 minutes on setting 1 in the Rove 6. If you need more time between charges, the 16-cell BA-516 roughly doubles those figures. Ask us and we can set expectations for your flow setting.

How long does it take to charge?

Inside the concentrator, up to 3 hours in both the G5 and the Rove 6, per Inogen’s current manuals. With the BA-503 external charger, about 4.5 hours from empty.

Can I take it on a plane?

As a spare, a lithium-ion battery can only travel in your carry-on bag, never in checked baggage, and each spare must be protected against short circuit (original packaging, taped terminals or its own bag). Whether a spare is allowed, and whether it needs your airline’s approval, depends on the watt-hour (Wh) rating printed on the battery’s label, so check the label and confirm with your airline before you fly. For flights, Inogen’s Rove 6 manual recommends bringing enough battery for at least 150% of your expected flight time, plus time on the ground, security, connections and delays, and notes that the AC power supply can’t be used to charge the battery on board.

How should I store it?

Inogen recommends storing batteries in a cool, dry place at 40–50% charge, charging to 100% and running down to empty at least once every 90 days, and keeping them dry (if a battery gets wet, stop using it). If you have more than one, label them and rotate.
