Inogen One G4: up to 2.7 hours on flow setting 1, per Inogen’s G4 spec sheet.
Inogen Rove 4: up to 3 hours 1 minute on flow setting 1 (±10%), per Inogen’s Rove 4 manual.

Those are Inogen’s figures for a new battery, and runtime is shorter at higher settings. A used battery may deliver less than a new one. Ask us and we can set expectations for your flow setting.

This is a genuine Inogen BA-400 battery that has been reconditioned, inspected, and tested. Cosmetic condition and remaining capacity vary from pack to pack; ask us about the unit you’d receive. Runtime is typically a bit lower than a brand-new pack — the trade-off for a much lower price. Every unit is backed by a warranty by American Oxygen (ask us for the current term). For context: Inogen designs these batteries for 500 full charge/discharge cycles, and a pre-owned pack has already used part of that life.

Will it fit my Rove 4?

Yes. Inogen’s Rove 4 manual lists the BA-400 as its standard, 4-cell battery, next to the BA-404 and BA-408. It also fits the Inogen One G4, where Inogen calls it the single battery.

Will it fit my Inogen One G5 or Rove 6?

No. The G5 and Rove 6 manuals list the BA-500, BA-508 and BA-516 batteries, not the G4 batteries. For those units, see the G5 / Rove 6 8-cell battery.

How long does a used battery last?

Somewhat less than a brand-new pack, since used cells lose a little capacity over their life. For reference, with a new battery Inogen lists up to 2.7 hours on setting 1 in the G4 and up to 3 hours 1 minute on setting 1 in the Rove 4. If you need more time between charges, the 8-cell BA-408 comes close to doubling those figures. Ask us and we can set expectations for your flow setting.

How long does it take to charge?

Inside the concentrator, up to 3 hours in both the G4 and the Rove 4, per Inogen’s manuals. With the BA-403 external charger, about 2 hours from empty.

Can I take it on a plane?

As a spare, a lithium-ion battery can only travel in your carry-on bag, never in checked baggage, and each spare must be protected against short circuit (original packaging, taped terminals or its own bag). Whether a spare is allowed, and whether it needs your airline’s approval, depends on the watt-hour (Wh) rating printed on the battery’s label, so check the label and confirm with your airline before you fly. For flights, Inogen’s Rove 4 manual recommends bringing enough battery for at least 150% of your expected flight time, plus time on the ground, security, connections and delays, and notes that the AC power supply can’t be used to charge the battery on board.

How should I store it?

Inogen recommends storing batteries in a cool, dry place at 40–50% charge, charging to 100% and running down to empty at least once every 90 days, and keeping them dry (if a battery gets wet, stop using it). If you have more than one, label them and rotate. One more from Inogen’s G4 technical manual: take the battery out of the concentrator when you’re not using it. Left in an unplugged G4, the unit keeps drawing on it, and a fully charged battery can be damaged in as little as 20 days.
