What exactly is rainout?

It’s condensation. Your humidifier warms and moistens the air; if the tube is colder than the air inside it, that moisture turns back into water and collects in the tube. You hear it gurgle, and eventually it reaches your mask. A heated tube keeps the air above the temperature where that happens.

Do I need a prescription for it?

No. Tubing, masks, cushions and filters ship without a prescription. Only the CPAP or BiPAP machine itself requires one.

Do I still need the humidifier?

Yes — the heated tube manages the air on its way to you, but the humidity itself comes from the humidifier tub in the machine. The two work together: that pairing is what Climate Control actually controls.

How often should I replace it?

Tubing is a wear part. Most people replace it every 3–6 months, sooner if you see cracks, cloudiness inside, or it stops holding a snug fit at either end. If Climate Control stops working, check the tube before you blame the machine.

How do I clean it?

Warm water and mild soap, rinsed well and hung to dry out of direct sunlight. Never submerge the connector end — there are electrical contacts in there. And don’t put it in a dishwasher.
